Martin Grotenfelt

Before Intera, my career included management consultancy work at the Boston Consulting Group and private equity investing in the employment of a Nordic company. The years I spent working abroad – in Sweden, the United States, and China – have provided me with a solid background for the globalization of Intera's target companies, among other things.

I come from a family of entrepreneurs. My mother has managed the company she founded for 20 years in the furniture industry, while my father has been involved in introducing Finnish mechanical engineering products to Central and Eastern Europe through his own company. Three of my grandparents spent their entire working lives as entrepreneurs. The greatest stories of entrepreneurship in my family date back to the generation that preceded my grandparents. Back in those days, my great-grandmother founded the first Finnish record company, Sointu, in Turku. Sointu was responsible for recording some hit songs played on the frontlines during the wartime. My great-grandfather, on the other hand, was a chain entrepreneur who, during his later years, ran a shirt company by the name Paita ja Solmio, in Turku. When he was younger, he was involved in the dairy products business in Russia.

Entrepreneurship – especially the Finnish kind of entrepreneurship – is therefore very close to my heart. At Intera, I get to support the growth and success of many entrepreneur-driven companies in my capacity as an entrepreneur. At the moment, I am responsible for the investments in Orthex, Polarica, and Tamtron. I cannot imagine a more interesting and rewarding job.
